But a lot of the time they’re treated like they are. Whether you’re an artist, venue host, or just a fan of great music, we’re all looking for the same thing: each other. youbloomConnect helps you find what you’re looking for. When artists join youbloom, they enter a network of exceptional musicians to partner and perform with. Fans request their favorite bands to come play local shows while youbloom finds the venues to make it happen. By uniting fan, artist, and host on one platform, youbloomConnect makes it uncommonly simple for you to curate an unforgettable, live experiences.

youbloomConnect For Fans

Connect works to deliver amazing experiences for fans by empowering them to create the shows they want to see. Fans can initiate a show with their favorite artists by requesting them. Connect works to make the show happen. Fans can also help the show to happen by becoming a Street Team Fan.

From the moment you request an artist, to the night of the show, youbloomConnect will keep you in the loop. You’ll receive weekly emails that show the stats for your requested artists, upcoming performances, and local shows we’ve hand-picked for you. When enough fans request the same artists as you, they are notified, and a show is organized. Once the show is set up, there is a 5 day period when fans who successfully brought a band to their city can buy tickets at a 15% discount, before being offered to the public. Updates on all requested artists, upcoming youbloom shows, and fan signup forms to share via social media, arrive in your weekly email from youbloom.

What is a Street Team Fan?

Exceptional fans have the opportunity to join the Street Team, working behind the scenes, with bands, and nabbing some extra perks in the process. Street Team fans promote their favorite artists across social media and increase fan sign ups locally. They help make the buzz around town when a youbloom band is on the way. 

We will keep track of how many fans you get to sign up, and let you know how you’re doing in a weekly email. Street Team members will receive all the benefits of fans plus 1 free ticket to see their favorite artist for every 4 tickets sold for that artist. Once a show is scheduled, we’ll let you know so you can start promoting sales and earn your tickets.

youbloomConnect For Artists

Artists use youbloomConnect to maximize performance opportunities and in turn, ticket and merch sales. Once signed on as a youbloom artist, we search the entire youbloomConnect database to find you artists similar in genre, fanbase, and travel radius. We then provide you with artist matches in a weekly email that you can pair with and promote through social media and other channels. Connect works to get you performing together.

As an Artist, you’ll also receive updates from hosts who would like to host you! Usually, a show does not take place for at least a month after it has been set up to allow time for youbloom, artists, fans, street team fans, and hosts to market the show. When signing up as an Artist, you’ll have the option to host intimate youbloom shows of your own, by opening up your own home or studio as a Connect space. By different bands working together, it becomes easy to reliably plan a tour, fill venues, grow an audience, and sell more tickets and merch, sustaining music careers locally and globally!

youbloomConnect For Hosts

A host can be a promoter or just a venue. They use youbloomConnect to book artists. With bands working together to produce a show, and fans/Street Team members confirming ticket pre-sales, hosts can book bands with better reliability that the show is going to bring in people and turn a profit. When artists have gained enough fan requests in a city, Connect notifies local hosts and begins organizing shows. Artist and hosts are brought together to foster new relationships and accelerate shows taking place.

What is a City-Rep?

Similar to the Street-Team fan playing a more dynamic role in requesting artists, the City-Rep can be a host or promoter who has established a relationship with youbloomConnect and plays an integral role in showcasing incoming youbloom talent in their city. 6 Digital Marketing Tips for Musicians & Bands

There’s absolutely no doubt that digital marketing is the key to success in the music industry. If you’re keen to make the most of each and every ounce of exposure you receive, if you are set on becoming the next big thing, if you are striving to live life as a full-time musician or band member, then you must embrace digital marketing and acknowledge all the concepts and trends currently relevant to your industry.

How do I get fans? Is it about quality or quantity?

The 1000 True Fans concept is the idea that as long as you have 1000 ‘true fans’, you are never going to have a problem selling your music and your merchandize online. These true fans will help create a fanbase and market for your music and products that will help you drive further sales and success.

The point of digital marketing is to make the most of the exposure you receive when you perform and find those magical 1000 true fans who will give you a musical career for life. In some ways, true fans are similar to the marketing concept of brand advocacy. Encourage loyalty, reward loyalty, and give freely.

Make the most of Facebook pages

Digital marketing goes hand-in-hand with social media. If you’re wondering how to get fans, you must build a platform that allows them to express themselves, to engage with you or your band, and to learn more about you.

Get your stuff out on YouTube

Many gig organizers will use YouTube to check out your music before hiring you. YouTube isn’t always an easy platform for new bands and musicians, so don’t worry if you don’t get many views at the beginning. Instead, focus on releasing some of your tracks in high quality for gig organizers and potential fans. Be sure to add tags and keywords to your video to increase the likelihood of someone finding your video or even stumbling across it through YouTube’s autoplay feature.

The good thing about YouTube is that your true fans will happily do the necessary advertising for you. They will share your latest releases through their social media networks and their friendship groups. They will also add their comments and likes to your videos. This interaction between fans encourages a fan base to emerge, which will develop its own personality as it grows.

Create a killer website

Still trying to figure out how to promote your music independently? A strong website can make your music enterprise look professional and serious. If you truly want to commit to a musical career, ensure that you invest in a website that has intuitive navigation, accessible contact information, and ecommerce facilities that allow you to sell your albums and merchandize yourself.

 

Your fans will want to be able to make purchases easily and securely, so make sure that this is possible. If you’re looking to set up your record shop, you can sell music through your own store and get up and running in a matter of hours. Setting up an ecommerce site independently is a sure-fire way to take matters into your own hands, and get your music business on the right track!

Being a beginner is never easy, but every great artist started somewhere. Whether it’s making beats on Garage Band alone in your basement, busking on the streets of your town, or churning out your first rock tunes, learning your instrument as you go, your first time playing music leaves its mark on you forever. Often, these experiences become relegated to teenage photo albums – the stuff your parents break out to embarrass you in front of new girlfriends and boyfriends. But for a handful of people the memory they might call MY FIRST TIME plants a seed that blooms into a full-blown passion. Every time we at youbloom organize a new festival, we get the privilege of hearing all about these first band experiences. From the good to the horrible, they always make for a good story.

Read on for MY FIRST TIME stories from five featured artists who will be playing at the upcoming youbloomLA 2016 Music Summit and Festival.

 

MY FIRST TIME

Defacto Thezpian: ‘As a hip-hop artist, I haven’t necessarily been in a band, but I have been in a two-man duo named Cully Base (KUH – lee Base). The group, and how we affected other people, truly inspired me to be involved in music. Cully Base, and all of its experiences, taught me core values I still use to this day.’

Jazzy and creative, Defacto Thezpian’s smart brand of cross-genre hip-hop is mellow and thoughtful; smooth atmospheric instrumental samples ripple beneath incredibly spat rhymes, with a delivery that is sincere and energetic. MY FIRST TIME

Gray Tolhurst, bass, Coo Coo Birds: ‘I was in a band called Teardrop Raygun in high school. We had kind of an indie-pop sound. Our greatest moment was winning a Catholic middle school Battle of The Bands in Los Angeles. The guitarist from Extreme was the judge and for some reason he liked us. I think it was when I swung my guitar into an audience of frightened middle-schoolers that did it.’

Welcome to your new favorite garage band. Coo Coo Birds bring the fuzz and crunch with all the references to sex, drugs and rock’n’roll essential to doing justice to this timelessly rebellious musical style. They’re groovy, they’ve got swagger, and they write really great rock’n’roll tunes. You’ll love ‘em live. For fans of: The Stooges, The Black Keys, Jay Reatard

MY FIRST TIME

Madi Rindge, singer/songwriter: ‘The first band I was ever in was one called It’s All Relative with my cousin Allie. We literally named our band after the fact that we are relatives! We were about 14 and we wrote songs about our love for the Jonas Brothers. We also put covers up on our YouTube channel of Demi Lovato songs, Jonas Brothers songs, and anything Disney. Talk about obsessed. Sad to say that duo does not exist anymore but we both pursued music careers as artists AND write about things other than the Jonas Brothers.’

One of the most soulful voices we’ve heard in a long time, Madi Rindge serves up the perfect blend of style, substance, and vocal prowess with her sweet, soaring tones and tendency to ake things just a little bit funky. Her tracks take just the right amount of hooks and melodies from indie, dance and pop genres, making her perfect for both dancefloor and the pop charts. B-Rad, drums, Ambiguous Culture: ‘The first band I was ever in was called the Blenders and it was a bunch of homies I knew growing up. The guitarist’s dad was a heavy musician and guitarist and he would coach us through rehearsal. We played all the songs the dad knew and liked to play so mainly Creedence, Cheap Trick, and blues jams. We fucking killed it for being 8-10 yrs old.’
MY FIRST TIME
Andre Sinatra, MC, Ambiguous Culture: ‘To be honest, this is probably my first band I’ve been in with this many people. But it is definitely not my first musical venture. Prior to teaming up with Ambiguous Culture this year, I had actually been performing as a solo rapper under my alias, Andre Sinatra, along with my good friend Josh (aka DJ M-O) for 2 years. I’d rap/sing and he’d spin the beats. Our relationship was very band-like. And for the most part, it was a lot of great and fun times I will never forget.’

If you’re sleeping on Ambiguous Culture, you’re missing some of the most impressive independent hip-hop out there right now. It’s melodious and syncopated, with sick flow and understated, yet tight-as-a-drum beats. Observant and pensive, this is hip-hop for the dreamers.
